EDIE SEDGWICK
Kinga Syrek is an animator and performance artist from Krakow. Kinga made an animated film about the model and Andy Warhol superstar Edie Sedgwick who died at the age of 27. In her short life she was a very famous model and an "it" girl of New York in the 60's. Edie can be seen in many of Warhol's films. Kinga and I decided to make a film combining her performance art with her animated film. We walked around New York with Kinga dressed as Edie, going to all of the famous places that Edie had lived and hung out in New York. I filmed her performing as Edie, then edited a film using pieces of her animated film, found footage of Edie and the video that we shot, I remixed songs from the era as well as interviewed her about the project and created a voiceover in which she talks about her feelings about her project, her instagram success and Edie Sedgwick as a fellow woman artist.
